A Message From Your WSAC President, Commissioner Coffman

It seems hard to believe I’ve already been the WSAC President for 3 months! I am honored to be in this position, and I want to share my journey as President with you.

It seems hard to believe I’ve already been the WSAC President for 3 months! I am honored to be in this position, and I want to share my journey as President with you through the quarterly newsletter and be accessible and supportive to our membership and beyond.

Since being elected Lincoln County Commissioner in 2010, I’ve dedicated myself to serving our community with integrity and transparency. My role as President allows me to further advocate for all counties' interests and promote initiatives that drive positive change across the state.

I was fortunate to be part of a panel for the Newly Elected Officials training in December. This was an especially large class –27 in total, with 23 in attendance. They are smart, ambitious, and passionate and will be a tremendous asset to our membership. I’m excited for them as they start their journey, and I encourage you to help me welcome them and mentor them along the way.

I had the opportunity to travel to Alaska as well as DC for the NCCAE Presidents and Executives meetings, and just returned from the NACo Legislative conference in DC. These experiences have been valuable in helping me understand the importance of my role and the ability of associations to accomplish amazing things by working together. I want that same energy and success to continue to be part of our Association. Every time I attend a WSAC Legislative Steering Committing (LSC) or Board meeting, it’s obvious that our bond is continuing to strengthen because we all realize that we are stronger together. We have been through some rocky times over the last couple of years, but we have come together for the tough conversations and decisions that will allow us to continue to improve.

We are so fortunate to have the support of the exceptional staff at WSAC! They provide us with the tools and guidance we need, and I encourage all of you to engage, use the resources, and attend the meetings. There are also many opportunities to serve on boards and commissions that bring tremendous value to you, your county, and WSAC. If you need help finding available positions, I or the staff would be happy to assist.

There are lots of changes coming with the Business Partners program. New solutions are being created to help grow partnerships and create savings opportunities as we continue to search for ways to become less reliant on our dues-based revenue structure. Be on the lookout for more information on those changes.

Lastly, please take time to join and use The HUB! It’s getting better every day and is becoming a great way to stay in touch and connect with others in our county family. Also, please read the WSAC newsletters, as they are full of valuable content. Don’t have time for reading? We have the solution! Download and subscribe to the County Connection podcast, where you will find in-depth conversations and current updates around the topics you are most interested in.

I hope the first quarter of 2025 finds you energized, successful, and grateful. I’m proud to serve as your WSAC President and happy to provide my support to each and every one of you.
