The 2024 House, Senate, and Governor’s proposed supplemental budgets have now all been released. Overall, county programs fared well, with increases in some areas and reductions in others. Below, you'll find a high-level breakdown of each proposed budget for shared state revenues:

Governor's Proposed Budget:

  • Cannabis Excise Tax: $2.359M (Added)
  • 2020 Streamlined Sales Tax Mitigation/2021 Puget Sound Taxpayer Accountability Account: $640K (Added)
  • County Criminal Justice Assistance Account: $34K (Reduced)
  • City-County Assistance Account: $11.356M (Reduced)

Senate Proposed Budget:

  • Cannabis Excise Tax: $2.359M (Added)
  • 2020 Streamlined Sales Tax Mitigation/2021 Puget Sound Taxpayer Accountability Account: $640K (Added)
  • County Criminal Justice Assistance Account: $34K (Reduced)
  • City-County Assistance Account: $11.356M (Reduced)

House Proposed Budget:

  • Cannabis Excise Tax: $3.256 (Reduced)
  • 2020 Streamlined Sales Tax Mitigation/2021 Puget Sound Taxpayer Accountability Account: $640K (Added)
  • County Criminal Justice Assistance Account: $34K (Reduced)
  • City-County Assistance Account: $11.356M (Reduced)

The WSAC policy team has put together a Budget Comparison Document that includes an in-depth comparison of the budget proposals impacting each of the following issue areas: shared state revenues, public health, opioid settlement, transportation, land use & water, public safety, human services, and general government.
